Four committees, one downtown
Main Street’s work is done by volunteers in four committees, one for each point of the Main Street Approach. The board sets the direction; the committees make it happen.
Being formed now. Main Street Dade City is being re-formed in 2026, and its committees will be set up with the founding board. Sign up today and you will be among the first asked.
Promotion
Gives people reasons to come downtown, and to come back: events, shop-local campaigns, and telling downtown’s story.
The kind of work
- Plan and staff events
- Run the calendar and this website’s news
- Photos, social media and the newsletter
Good fit: People who like organizing a good day out, taking photos or writing.
Design
Cares for what makes downtown look like nowhere else: the buildings, storefronts, sidewalks, signs and green spaces.
The kind of work
- Planters, benches and clean-up days
- Help owners with grants for facades and signs
- Wayfinding and window displays
Good fit: People who love old buildings, gardening, design or a tidy street.
Economic Vitality
Helps the businesses already here grow, and brings new ones into empty storefronts.
The kind of work
- Welcome and check in on businesses
- Match new owners with empty spaces
- Workshops and pointing owners to help
Good fit: Business owners, property owners, bankers, realtors and anyone good with numbers.
Organization
Builds what keeps the work going: volunteers, sponsors, donors and partnerships with the City and the chamber.
The kind of work
- Recruit and thank volunteers
- Find sponsors and donors
- Keep partners informed
Good fit: Connectors, fundraisers and people who like to keep things running.
How it works
- Sign up once. On the volunteer form, tick the committee you would like. Not sure? Tick “Anything useful” and Main Street will suggest one.
- Give what you can. How often a committee meets is up to its members, once the board has formed it. A couple of hours counts, and festival days need extra hands.
- One plan, four parts. Main Street America calls these the Four Points. Each committee works on its own point, toward the same downtown. The Main Street Approach (opens Main Street America’s website).
Want to lead one?
Leading a committee starts with the founding board, which is being formed now.
